Students stranded in Bangladesh return to Sri Lanka

A group of 73 Sri Lankan students stranded in Bangladesh returned to Sri Lanka today.

They arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport on a special SriLankan Airlines flight.

Sri Lankan Airlines has been operating special flights to repatriate 443 Sri Lankans, mostly students, stranded overseas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sri Lankan Airlines said the special flights are being operated as part of measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Relations to bring back Sri Lankans stranded overseas.

The flights are being operated to and from Amritsar and Coimbatore in India, Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan, and Kathmandu in Nepal.

All those repatriated via the special flights authorized by the Government and the Civil Aviation Authority have been handed over to health officials and Tri- Forces personnel upon landing.?(Colombo Gazette)

Police hunt for underage domestic workers in Colpetty

The Police conducted a search operation for underage domestic workers in Colpetty. Police Spokesman, Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that the operation was conducted yesterday (Tuesday). Worker from Sri Lanka dies in Korea after working 18 consecutive hours

A Sri Lankan worker at a plastic manufacturing factory in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province in Korea, has died in an industrial accident after working for 18 consecutive hours, the Korea Times reported. According to Hwaseong Seobu Police Station, the 33-year-old worker from Sri Lanka died at a plastic goods manufacturing factory in Paltan Township of Hwaseong City, at around 3:30 a.m. on July 25.
