Health Ministry notes improvements despite rise in numbers

The Health Ministry today noted improvements in the coronavirus situation in Sri Lanka despite a rise in numbers.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that coronavirus patients have not been reported from the identified clusters from where large numbers were earlier reported.

He said that earlier large numbers were reported from Jaffna, Beruwala, Puttalam, Akurana, Negombo and Ratnapura.

“We have not received reports of any coronavirus patients from these clusters. This is a good sign,” he said.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that he hopes, with all the efforts being taken, the spread of the coronavirus will be brought under complete control. (Colombo Gazette)

Ultimatum issued to plantation companies on Rs. 1,000 daily wage

The Government today warned it will not hesitate to take appropriate measures if the plantation companies continue to reject the Rs. 1,000 daily wage for estate workers.
