Wildlife official shot dead

An official attached to the Inginiyagala Department of Wildlife Conservation was shot dead by poachers in the Gal Oya National Forest.

The Police said the officer was shot dead during a raid conducted by a team of officers from the Inginiyagala Department of Wildlife Conservation last night.

The deceased has been identified as a 25 year- old, while the preliminary Magistrate?s inquiry is to take place at the scene of crime today.

The Dambagalla Police have arrested four poachers along with a 12 Bore gun. (Colombo Gazette)
