Secretary to the Public Health Inspectors Union (PHIU) M. Balasooriya told the Colombo Gazette that PCR testing for COVID-19 will be conducted on all vendors and employees at the fish market.
The Peliyagoda fish market remains closed for three days commencing from today.
The Fish Traders Union said yesterday that the decision was taken to curtail the spread of the coronavirus within the market premises.
It was reported that a fish vendor from Piliyandala, who was detected on Monday (20) to have contracted COVID-19, had visited the Peliyagoda fish market.
Retail trading at the fish market has been restricted, while only wholesale trading will be conducted. (Colombo Gazette)
