Number of coronavirus cases increases

The number of persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka reached 323 this evening.

Two patients were detected with the virus this evening including one patient who was receiving treatment at the Polonnaruwa Hospital.

The second person is from Suduwella in Ja-Ela and was at the quarantine facility in Oluvil.

The Health Ministry said 211 patients among the infected have been identified as active cases.

A total of 148 persons are admitted to various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

The Ministry said 105 patients, including 104 Sri Lankans and a Chinese national, have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.

Seven deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka, it added. (Colombo Gazette)

Salaries of OMP Chairman and members to be increased

The salaries of the members and Chairman of the Office on Missing Persons (OMP) are to be increased. The Committee on Public Finance approved a proposal to increase the salaries and allowances of the OMP members including the Chairman. Madiwala resident found to be infected with Delta variant

A resident of Madiwala has been found to be infected with the Delta variant of the coronavirus. The 53-year-old woman has now been transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH).
