Ranjan released on bail

Former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, who was in remand, was released on bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate?s Court today.

Ramanaya was arrested last week, along with his physiotherapist, on charges of obstructing the duties of Police officers.

An argument had erupted between Ramanayake and Police officers on duty near his housing complex when they had prevented Ramanayake?s physiotherapist from entering the complex to handover essential goods.

The Police had thereafter arrested the two persons, who were remanded after being produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate?s court on the same day.

The physiotherapist was however, released on bail on Tuesday (14). (Colombo Gazette)

Central Province Minister Tennakoon arrested

Central Provincial Council Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon has been?arrested over an alleged assault incident, the police media unit said.
