Health Ministry asserts coronavirus threat not fully eradicated

The Health Ministry today asserted that the threat from the coronavirus has not been fully eradicated in Sri Lanka.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe says some media reports claimed that the threat from the coronavirus has not been fully eradicated.

However, Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that while the spread of the virus has been contained in Sri Lanka, the threat has not been fully eradicated.

He said that, as of now, there is no social transmission of the virus and that it is limited to an identified group of people at present in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that steps taken so far prevented the spread of the virus in the country.

He said that even if normal daily life resumes, officials will continue with the steps currently in place to contain the spread of the virus. (Colombo Gazette)
