Strong winds disrupt electricity in Nawagattegama

Electricity has been suspended in the Nawagattegama area in Puttalam since last night.

Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodipilli told the Colombo Gazette that strong winds had been experienced in the area last night.

Trees had fallen on to electricity cables as a result of the strong winds disrupting electricity to Nawagattegama in Puttalam, he said.

Pradeep Kodipilli said measures are being taken to restore electricity to the affected areas.

Kodipilli further added that 245 houses in 6 Pradeshiya Sabha Divisions in Puttalam were also damaged due to strong winds experienced last night. (Colombo Gazette)
