Sri Lankans stranded overseas being brought back

The Government is taking measures to bring back Sri Lankans stranded in international airports, due to the global outbreak of the Coronavirus, in batches.

The Ministry of Foreign Relations said arrangements are underway to bring back the first batch of stranded Sri Lankans from Singapore and Oman.

The Government last week said it was taking measures to bring back 33 Sri Lankans, including students and other industry officials, stranded in International Airports.

Co- Cabinet Spokesman Ramesh Pathirana said the group consists of 5 Sri Lankans in Oman, 3 in Dubai, 7 in Singapore, 2 in Turkey, 1 each in Ethiopia, Malaysia, India, the Maldives and Portugal and 5 in Egypt.

He said the Sri Lankan passengers will undergo a 21- day quarantine period after landing in the country. (Colombo Gazette)

DNA samples to be obtained from Brian Thomas

DNA samples are to be obtained from former cricket commentator Brian Thomas as part of ongoing investigations into the murder of businessman Dinesh Schaffter.
