Group from Ja-ela to be moved to Oluvil quarantine center

The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) today took into custody 23 individuals who had violated instructions to remain in self- quarantine in the Suduwella area in Ja-ela.
The Navy said a resident of Suduwella had been assaulted recently, and was later admitted to hospital, where he was detected to have been infected with COVID-19.
The Public Health Inspectors Office in Ja-ela had instructed 23 persons who had come in direct contact with the patient to remain in self- isolation within their residences.
However, reports were received that the individuals had violated the self- isolation process and were moving out and about in the area, the Navy said.
The Navy further said the suspects were arrested based on a special operation conducted by information from the Navy Intelligence Unit.
Meanwhile, Navy Media Spokesman Lieutenant Commander W.M.I.R.L. Sooriyabandara said another 5 individuals were also arrested in Ja-ela on charges of violating instructions to remain in self-quarantine.
He said all 28 suspects arrested in Ja-ela will be moved to the quarantine center in Oluvil. (Colombo Gazette)
