Probe launched over attack on Hambantota official

Co- Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena and the Postmaster General have filed a complaint with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on a recent attack on the Deputy Postmaster General in Hambantota.

Addressing the media, Minister Gunawardena said that 3 persons had attacked the Deputy Postmaster General in Rukmalpitiya- Katuwana, Hambantota.

The Deputy Postmaster General had been attacked when he had arrived to hand over the government granted allowance to a pensioner in the area.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena said the victim was currently receiving treatment at the Katuwana Hospital.

In his complaint, Minister Gunawardena has requested the Police to take stringent measures against those obstructing state employees from carrying out their official duties.

He urged the Police to arrest such suspects, remand them and file necessary legal action against them. (Colombo Gazette)

WHO issues dengue alert for Colombo

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued a dengue alert for the Colombo District. WHO Sri Lanka said that 2052 dengue cases have been reported in Sri Lanka in the week ending June 05.
