In an address to the nation Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa called on the people to put all differences aside and focus on the common enemy at this moment, the coronavirus.
He expressed confidence on the ability to defeat the virus considering Sri Lanka’s victory in the war against the LTTE.
The Prime Minister urged the public to stay indoors and respect the curfew and support the Government in its efforts to defeat the virus.
He also said that most people did not see the need to reconvene Parliament at this time despite calls to do so by some political parties.
The Prime Minister said that the entire country has suffered as a result of the virus with large ans small scale businesses among those hit. (Colombo Gazette)
