Chief suspect in Nallur shooting incident surrenders

The?Chief suspect in the Nallur shooting incident surrendered to the Police today. He surrendered to the Jaffna Police, the Police media unit said. High Court judge N. Illancheliyan was shot at by gunmen in Nallur, Jaffna while he was in his vehicle on Saturday. The judge was unhurt but his his Police bodyguard, who was giving security to the judge was injured. The High Court judge is part of a trial-at-bar hearing the case on the rape and murder of the school girl.?(Colombo Gazette)

Death toll of dengue victims rises to 301, over 105,000 affected

The number of dengue cases has gone up to 105,000 in Sri Lanka with over 301 deaths, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society said. The Red Cross said that it is rapidly scaling up emergency assistance to help contain one of the country’s worst-ever outbreak of dengue in recent times, the Xinhua news agency reported.
