UNP, TNA call for Parliament to reconvene

The United National Party (UNP) and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) today called for Parliament to reconvene to pass urgent legislation to fight the coronavirus.

Party Leaders Ranil Wickremesinghe, R. Sampanthan and former Speaker K. Jayasuriya urged Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to take steps to reconvene Parliamenbt.

The request was made when Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa headed a party leaders meeting at Temple Trees today.

At the meeting, Wickremesinghe stated that many of the measures being taken by the Government would not work as the necessary legal framework in not place.

He said that at this point their only focus is to defeat the coronavirus.

He drew attention to the UK and the US were necessary legislation had been passed to ensure financial and other necessary support for the Government’s efforts to defeat the coronavirus. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. B*ll Sh*t….. Go and make yourselves useful serving in the Quarantine centers.
    There is bathrooms need to be cleeaned 4 times a day and serve tea 3 times a day.
