UNP delegation holds talks with President on crisis

The United National Party (UNP) held talks with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today on the coronavirus and its impact on Sri Lanka.

The UNP delegation was led by UNP Deputy Leader Ravi Karunanayake and included former Ministers Daya Gamage, Navin Dissanayake, Ruwan Wijewardene and Arjuna Ranatunga.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and other members of the Government also attended the discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat.

The UNP delegation had informed the President that the distribution of essential items in some areas had been politicised.

Several other issues were also discussed at the meeting. (Colombo Gazette)

Two individuals abducted and nailed on a cross over FB post

Two individuals had been abducted and nailed on a cross in Ampitiya over a post published on Facebook, the Police said. The Police said that the two individuals had published a defamatory post on Facebook with regards to a man who operated a Temple. Sri Lanka to receive Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in two weeks

Sri Lanka is to receive Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in two weeks, the Government said today. State Minister of Production, Supply, and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Professor Channa Jayasumana said that the Government is to receive three vaccine brands still not in use in Sri Lanka.
