Over 500 persons were arrested on charges of violating the islandwide Police curfew within the last 24 hours ending at 6.00 a.m. today.
An islandwide curfew has been in effect since 20 March, due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.
The Police said 508 individuals were arrested within the last 24 hours from 06.00 a.m. yesterday (30) to 06.00 a.m. today (31).
The Police have taken into custody 125 vehicles during this period, they said.
Meanwhile, 7358 individuals have been arrested since the implementation of the islandwide Police curfew.
The Police said 1768 vehicles, including three – wheelers and motorcycles, were also taken into Police custody during this period. (Colombo Gazette)
