Number of coronavirus patients rises to 122

The number of patients confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus in Sri Lanka rose to 122 today.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 5 new cases were reported today and have been admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda.

The Unit further revealed 108 patients, among the confirmed cases, have been reported as active cases.

A total of 114 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals across the country on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

The first death due to the coronavirus in Sri Lanka was reported as a 60 year- old diabetic patient from Marawaila.

Meanwhile, the Epidemiology Unit confirmed that 4 more patients infected with the coronavirus have completely recovered and were discharged from the IDH today.

The patients were discharged after multiple tests were carried out to ascertain their complete recovery.

The Epidemiology Unit said that 15 patients, including 14 Sri Lakans and a Chinese Woman, have recovered so far and have been discharged from the IDH. (Colombo Gazette)

Fake driving licence printing press busted
