Curfew to be temporarily lifted in most parts of the country

The curfew is to be temporarily lifted in most parts of the country tomorrow (Monday), the Government said today.

The Government said that the curfew will not be lifted in the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Kandy and Jaffna districts.

The curfew will be lifted in other areas at 6 am tomorrow (Monday) and reimposed at 2 pm the same day.

The Government said that only essential services will be permitted to travel between districts when the curfew is temporarily lifted.

Parts of Kandy and Puttalam have been sealed fearing the spread of the coronavirus.

The Government said that Kadayankulama Puttalam and Akurana in Kandy and Atulugama in Kalutara have also been sealed.

Residents of these areas have been prevented from leaving their premises and have been ordered to be quarantined for 14 days. (Colombo Gazette)

New Sri Lankan Government rejects resolution at UNHRC

The new Sri Lankan Government has decided to reject the resolution presented to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, at its ongoing 57th Session. NPP Leader Anura Kumara ahead in Presidential poll results

The Leader of the National People’s Power (NPP) Anura Kumara Dissanayake was leading based on the results from the 2024 Presidential election released so far.
