Sri Lankans who returned from Chennai asked to report to PHI

All Sri Lankans who had returned from Chennai, India after 14 March have been requested to notify the Public Health Inspector (PHI) in their relevant areas.

The Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 4 more patients were detected to have contracted the coronavirus during the course of today.

Two patients, among the four detected patients, are said to have returned from Chennai, India during the last few days, he said.

Dr. Jasinghe said 2 more patients who had also returned from India over the last few days have been identified as patients infected with Covid-19.

Dr. Jasinghe therefore requested all those who returned from India over the last 14 days to inform their area Public Health Inspectors and remain in self- isolation. (Colombo Gazette)

Liquor given at several places as bribe for votes

Election monitors reported several incidents of liquor being distributed today?as bribes to voters for the Parliamentary election. The Campaign for a Free and Fair Election (CAFFE) said that in Badulla 67 people had been given liquor bottles yesterday to secure their votes by a certain candidate. Issues over ink used to mark fingers of voters

Election monitors had received a number of reports related to the ink used to mark fingers of voters. There were complaints of the ink fading even before voters could cast their votes.
