Body of coronavirus victim will not be given to family

The body of the coronavirus victim will not be given to the family, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr Paba Palihawadana said.

She told the Colombo Gazette the final rites of the victim will be conducted by the Government in line with existing regulations.

The first death from the coronavirus in Sri Lanka was reported today.

A 60-year-old man who was receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda, died today.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said in a statement that the man was a diabetic patient and had also undergone kidney transplant. (Colombo Gazette)

Gazette notice issued on resignation of Muslim Ministers

A gazette notice has been issued on the resignation of Muslim Ministers, State Ministers and a Deputy Minister. The gazette notice notes that Rauff Hakeem, Rishad Barthiudeen, Kabir Hashim and Abdul Haleem had resigned as Ministers in the cabinet.
