Police instructed to strictly enforce curfew

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has instructed all Officers -in – Charge (OIC) of Police Stations to ensure the strict implementation of the islandwide Police curfew.

An islandwide Police curfew is currently in effect to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak in Sri Lanka.

As part of the measures, the IGP has instructed the public to refrain from walking on main roads or interconnecting roads within their neighbourhoods during the curfew.

The Police Media Unit said the IGP also requested the public to refrain from stepping out-doors and spending time on the road outside their residences during curfew hours.

Meanwhile, the President?s Media Division (PMD) said the general public have been advised to adhere to the Police curfew which is in effect island-wide.?

The PMD said the Police & Tri-Forces have been instructed to strictly enforce curfew regulations.

Furthermore, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said Police bail will not be granted to those arrested on charges of violating the curfew from today. (Colombo Gazette)

Two arrivals from new strain hit UK among infected in Sri Lanka

Two arrivals from the United Kingdom are among the latest coronavirus infected persons detected in Sri Lanka.
