The fourth batch of individuals who were placed in quarantine centres due to the coronavirus outbreak in Sri Lanka left for home this morning.
Military Spokesman Brigadier Chandana Wickremesinghe said a group of 501 individuals left for home after completing their 14- day quarantine period.
Twenty-five persons had left from the Kandakadu centre, 167 from Punani, and 309 from Diayathalawa, he said.
A group of 311 persons from the Kandakadu and Punani quarantine centres were the first batch to leave for home on Tuesday (24).
The second batch consisting of 144 persons from the Kandakadu quarantine centre left on Wednesday (25).
The third batch of 223 individuals from the Kandakadu, Punani and Miyankulam centres had left for home yesterday (26).
Meanwhile, Brigadier Wickremesinghe further requested the public to practice social distancing for the betterment of the society and the country.
He added that it was the personal responsibility of all citizens of the country to safeguard and minimise the spread of the coronavirus in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
