Bank employees have been permitted to use their office identity cards as an official pass during the islandwide Police curfew imposed in the country.
The Government Information Department said the decision has been taken on the directives of the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Bank employees have been urged to use their Office identity cards only to engage in official matters.
Meanwhile, the President’s Media Division said the Secretary to the President has requested all bank managements in areas where the Police curfew has been lifted to keep their branches open to the public.
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) earlier requested all Licensed Commercial Banks and Licensed Specialised Banks to keep their branches open at least for two (2) hours today in the areas where police curfew is lifted to provide urgent banking services to the general public.
The island wide curfew which was imposed on Friday (20) was temporarily lifted for all Districts except Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam at 06. 00 AM today, and will be re-imposed at 02.00 PM.
Meanwhile, the Police curfew for the Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam Districts will be temporarily lifted at 06.00 AM tomorrow (24) and will be re-imposed at 02.00 PM the same day. (Colombo Gazette)
