IGP Pujith Jayasundara arrested for threatening lift operator

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has been arrested for threatening a lift operator. He was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for threatening the lift operator at the Police Headquarters in 2017. The IGP was later released on bail. Jayasundara is currently on compulsory leave over the Easter Sunday attacks. A.S.P. Liyanage makes another attempt to become President

Businessman A.S.P. Liyanage placed his bond at the Election Commission today in another attempt by him to become President. Liyanage, the leader of the Labour Party and a former diplomat, said that he was confident he will secure the most number of votes at the election. UNP convention names Sajith as presidential candidate

The United National Party’s special convention concluded at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo today (3) adopting six resolutions. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is also the UNP Party leader in the first resolution proposed to nominate Sajith Premadasa as the Presidential candidate.
