MP Shantha Abeysekara further remanded

United National Party (UNP) Puttalam District Parliamentarian Shantha Abeysekara was today ordered to be further remanded till 5th November. The MP had been arrested and remanded until today by the Chilaw High Court for violating his bail conditions. The MP had been accused of violating the bail conditions related to a case over an incident in 2004. In May 2004 the Chilaw police had raided his house and seized cartridges, a grenade and several firearms.

Australian politician settles defamation suit with Sri Lankan student

Australian politician, One Nation MLC, Mark Latham has settled a defamation suit with a University of NSW student from Sri Lanka he accused of “plotting to kill senior federal MPs”.
