Former Deraniyagala chairman and 17 others sentenced to death

Former Deraniyagala chairman Anil Champika and 17 others have been sentenced to death for murder. They were convicted of murdering a superintendent at the Noori estate. The Avissawella High Court issued the death sentence on the convicts today.

Group enters international school and assault student

A group entered a leading international school in Colombo and assaulted a student in the school today. Sources said that the incident was over a private dispute involving the student and the group which included students from another school.
