Cabs not permitted to operate during travel ban

Taxi services have been prohibited from operating during the islandwide travel ban that has been enforced in Sri Lanka. Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said all forms of public transportation have been suspended during this period. Government claims LTTE sympathisers are in US Congress

Sri Lanka claims there are LTTE sympathisers in the US Congress. The Foreign Ministry said that it has taken note of Resolution No. H.RES.413 introduced in the United States House of Representatives by Representative Ms. Deborah K. Landslide and flood warning issued for several areas

A landslide and flood warning has been issued to several parts of the country due to the inclement weather. The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) said the warning has been issued to the Galle, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Colombo, Matara, and Nuwara Eliya Districts. The public has been requested to remain vigilant of landslides due to heavy showers in the relevant areas.
