Swiss Embassy employee produced before JMO

The Swiss Embassy employee alleged to have been kidnapped last month and later released, was produced before the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) today.

Earlier in the day the Colombo Magistrates? Court extended an order preventing the Swiss Embassy employee from leaving the country till 12 December.

The CID had yesterday recorded a statement from the employee regarding the alleged abduction incident.

She was produced before the JMO today after she had claimed to have been sexually abused after being kidnapped.

The Swiss Embassy employee was later produced before the CID for a second day today to be questioned.

Murder suspect shot dead while in Police custody

A murder suspect was shot dead in Veyangoda while in Police custody today. Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that the suspect was shot dead during an “incident” involving the Police this morning. More canned fish from China rejected

By Vyshnavy Velrajh and Indika Sri Aravinda The Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) has rejected another 21 containers with canned fish containing arsenic laden salmon that was imported from China. Customs Superintendent M. Ashroff told Colombo Gazette that the containers are apart from the 48 containers that were earlier rejected by the SLSI.
