Murali denies claims on Governor post

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan has denied claims he has been offered the post of Northern Province Governor.

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Muralitharan also insisted that he has no intention of entering politics.

“No, it is a rumour that was first floated on Facebook. I was not offered that post and in any case have made it clear that I am not interested in politics. I am a sportsman, a cricket player, not a politician. My Foundation for Goodness has already been helping 60000 fellow citizens every year. If the country wants me to help in any specific way through our Foundation, there is no question, of course I will help improve lives in any way I can,” he said.

Funeral wreaths and white flags placed outside Temple Trees

Funeral wreaths and white flags were placed outside Temple Trees today to remember the victim of the shooting incident in Rambukkana. Protesters staged a funeral march from Galle Face to Temple Trees and gathered outside the gates of the official residence of the Prime Minister. The protesters placed the wreaths and white flags with red stains on the barricades outside Temple Trees and on a part of the wall.
