Charitha turns down State media role

Dr Charitha Herath would not be taking up the position as the Chairman of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited.

Dr Herath said that he wished to concentrate on contesting the upcoming Parliamentary election instead.

He said that there was an internal party agreement within the Sri Lankan Podujana Peramuna that whoever took up positions in the current three month interim Government would not receive nominations at the next Parliamentary elections.

Dr Herath said he hopes to contest the Parliamentary election from the Kurunegala district.
