SLMC decides not to accept Ministerial posts

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has decided not to accept Ministerial posts at the moment. At a meeting today the SLMC had decided it will not accept Ministerial portfolios until issues faced by the Muslims are addressed. All Muslim Ministers resigned from their portfolios in the Government in early June. All Muslim State and Deputy Ministers had also tendered their resignations. Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik today noted that the LTTE lost the wear despite the support it had. Security increased in Jaffna after shooting

Security has been increased along the streets of Jaffna after a shooting incident last night. The Police had opened fire on a group of youth on motorcycles after they had failed to stop at a checkpoint in Manipay. One youth was killed in the shooting incident while another sustained injuries. The Police said that they suspect the group were part of the ‘Aava gang’ and that they had swords in their possession.
