The Government has decided to suspend the Suraksha insurance scheme and the issuing of tabs for students.
Cabinet spokesman Bandula Gunawardena told reporters today that a decision was taken to launch an investigation over allegations around the insurance scheme and the computer tablet programme.
He said that since an investigation has been launched both schemes have been suspended.
The Suraksha health insurance scheme was introduced by former Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.
However there were reports of financial irregularities in the scheme.
The issuing of tabs was also surrounded in controversy. (Colombo Gazette)
