Committee to recommend qualified professionals for top posts

A committee has been appointed to recommend qualified professionals for top posts in State institutions.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed the six member committee to recommend qualified professionals for the posts.

The President?s Media Division (PMD) said that the committee is required to submit its recommendations for the leading posts at public enterprises, state institutions, and state-owned commercial enterprises on or before 18th December.

Former Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers Sumith Abeysinghe is heading the committee and includes former Chairman of John Keells Holdings Plc. Susantha Ratnayake, former Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Hela Clothing Chairman Dian Gomes, Neurosurgeon Dr. Prasanna Gunasena and Senior Lecturer Jagath Wellawatte.

Government to compensate victimised journalists

The Government has decided to compensate journalists threatened or victimised in the past, the Xinhua news agency reported. President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a committee to study proposals on steps to be taken to compensate journalists harassed or victimised in other ways from 2005 to 2015.
