SalamAir together with MAC Aviation Services Pvt Ltd GSA in Sri Lanka (A Fully Owned Subsidiary of MAC Holdings Pvt Ltd), celebrated the commencement of SalamAir’s direct flight from Muscat to Colombo.
Accordingly, the route is scheduled to operate A320s and A320neos four times (1,3,5,7) a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing Colombo at 09:10 local time and arriving in Muscat at 12:10 local time. The flight will depart Muscat at 02:40 local time arriving in Colombo at 8:10 local time. The airline offers flights to Dubai & Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jeddah & Riyadh, Shiraz & Tehran in Iran, Khartoum, Alexandria, Kuwait, Istanbul, Kathmandu, Chittagong & Dhaka, Karachi, Multan, Sialkot and to domestic routes from Muscat to Salalah, and Suhar.
To commemorate this inaugural flight two functions were held, one in the morning hours at the BIA “Silk Route lounge” for the press & media briefing and the other a cocktail ceremony to stakeholders. The events were attended by ambassadors, diplomats, dignitaries from SalamAir & MAC Holdings, SLTB, AASL, corporate partners, members of the travel industry, Media institutions and social influencers from the two countries.
The Ambassador designated to Sri Lanka from Oman Mr. Al Sheikh Juma Hamdan Hassan Al Malik Al Shehhi mentioned that this reinforced the strong and enduring relationship, between Sri Lanka and Oman as this will be the second designated carrier from sultanate’s fastest-growing value-for-money airline of Oman to fly into Sri Lanka.
He further stated that the introduction of this direct route was expected to increase the flow of tourists and business passengers, and strengthen economic cooperation including trade, investment, finance, educational and cultural linkages between Sri Lanka and Oman.
The Ambassador designate of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman Mr. Omar Lebbe Ameerajwad, stated that the launch of this flight would lead to an increased flow of tourists to Sri Lanka from Oman and hoped that it would lead to an increased flow of passengers from Sri Lanka to Oman as well.
