PM orders probe on damage to Tamil road name boards

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had ordered an investigation into Tamil road name boards being vandalised or damaged in parts of the country.

Member of the Colombo Municipal Council from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Milinda Rajapaksa tweeted saying the Prime Minister had instructed the Police to arrest those responsible for removing the Tamil road name boards.

Tamil street name boards had been found vandalised at multiple locations in the country.

The Tamil name boards have been damaged or removed by unidentified persons following the Presidential election.

One such name board had been vandalised in Panadura while another had been found removed at Kerawalapitiya.

Images of the damage caused to these name boards have been circulated on social media.

Former Minister of National Integration and Official Languages Mano Ganesan tweeted saying some of the incidents seem to involve mischief makers. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Let’s hope all these ministers have been transformed. And, a ‘new dawn has begun’.

If Buddhist philosophy is correct, I wouldn’t want to be anyone of them. I wouldn’t like to be reborn as a Maggot !
