The United National Party (UNP) today denied claims that it had not fully backed the Presidential election campaign of New Democratic Front Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.
UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that the UNP has taken note of comments made by UNP Parliamentarian Nalin Bandara.
Bandara had accused the party of failing to fully back the election campaign of Premadasa.
Kariyawasam said that the election campaign was handled from the campaign office established in Colombo which was headed by former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake.
He said that all the support required by the campaign office was provided by the UNP Headquarters in Sirikotha.
Kariyawasam insisted that during the campaign concerns had never been raised of lack of support from the party for the campaign. (Colombo Gazette)
