The Police fired tear gas after a protest staged near President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s private residence in Mirihana turned violent late this evening. What began as a large silent protest, later turned violent as the people attempted to advance near the President’s house. Power cuts extended to 13 hours

The power cuts have been extended to 13 hours tomorrow with some areas set to experience the outage even between midnight and 5am. The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had requested approval for a 13-hour power cut. The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) approved the request by the CEB.

Massive 10-hour power cut tomorrow

A massive 10-hour power cut is to be enforced tomorrow with some areas set to experience it continuously from 2pm to 12am.
