Major General Kamal Gunaratne is tipped to be appointed as the new Defence Secretary, sources told the Colombo Gazette.
Gunaratne was the former General Officer Commanding, 53 Division and a former Deputy Ambassador to Brazil and is a close associate of Rajapaksa.
Rajapaksa was sworn in as President today and is to assume duties tomorrow.
He is expected to appoint former Treasury Secretary P.B Jayasundera as the President’s Secretary.
