United National Party (UNP) member Harin Fernando announced that he was resigning from his post as Minister of Sports, Telecommunications and Foreign Employment.
He said he was also stepping down from his post in the UNP.
“Respecting the people’s mandate I am stepping down as Minister of Sports, Telecommunications & Foreign Employment. I am also resigning from my positions at UNP. I Take this opportunity to thank every one who supported me in my tenure, hope good work done will be continued,” he said.
The announcement came after UNP and New Democratic Party Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa conceded defeat at the Presidential election.
