Curfew to be strictly enforced on Sunday

The Police said that the curfew will be strictly enforced on Sunday around the country. Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Ajith Rohana said that no one will be able to step out during the curfew on Sunday 17 May. He said that a special operation will be conducted around the island on Sunday to arrest anyone violating the strict curfew. Electricity supply disrupted in several areas due to heavy rains

The electricity supply has been disrupted in several areas due to heavy rains. The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that the electricity has been disrupted for over 45,000 consumers. According to the CEB, the electricity supply has mainly been disrupted in Galle, Hambantota, Kalutara and Ratnapura. Parts of Sri Lanka has been experiencing heavy rain since yesterday as a result of a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal. (Colombo Gazette)
