HRCSL writes to EC on spread of misinformation

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has written to the Elections Commission regarding misinformation being spread on social media pertaining to the method of casting a vote.

The Human Rights Commission has pointed out that various false information concerning the process of marking the ballot paper when casting a vote was being spread on social media, which, if followed would result in such a vote being deemed invalid.

The Human Rights Commission has called on the Elections Commission to issue notices on print and electronic media to educate the voters by clarifying the correct way of marking a ballot paper.

Crescat mall damaged following fire, probe underway
