Contempt of court case on Gnanasara to be considered in February

The Court of Appeal has decided to consider a contempt of court application filed against the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, the Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero and three others on February 17, 2020.

The monk was accused of violating a court order over the burial of a Buddhist monk in Mullaitivu recently.

When the application against the Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara was presented to court today the Court of Appeal said that it needs to consider the application before deciding if to issue summons.

The court decided to consider the application on February 17, 2020 and issued notice on the Attorney General to appear on that date to submit his recommendations on the petition.
