Two policemen in Anuradhapura have been arrested for obtaining a bribe, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption (CIABOC) said today.
CIABOC said that the two policemen had allegedly obtained a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an individual to settle a case.
The arrest was made based on a complaint made by the individual from who the Police had sought the bribe.
A case had been filed in court against the individual accusing him of damaging property in a house.
The two policemen had offered to intervene in the case and settle the issue for a bribe.
CIABOC officers arrested the policemen when they were in the process of obtaining the bribe.
