State official accused of campaigning for SLPP candidate

A complaint has been lodged against the Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority of the Southern Province, Nilanga Hendawitharana accusing him of campaigning for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate, Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

According to the Center for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV), Hendawitharana has been engaged in campaigning for the SLPP candidate, including on social media.

Consequently, the CMEV has filed a complaint against Hendawitharana at the Election Commission for campaigning while being a state official.
