Gotabaya releases manifesto giving priority to economy, security

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa released his election manifesto today which gives priority to improving the economy and protecting national security.

Speaking at an event held to launch the manifesto at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre, Rajapaksa said that his policy will be to ensure the country is not divided and that the same law applies to the entire country.

He said that his Government will not allow outsiders to interfere in Sri Lanka’s domestic affairs.

Rajapaksa said that his immediate priority will be to improve the economy and amend outdated financial laws.

He said that a lot of focus will also be given to local businesses and tourism.

Speaking at the same event, former President and SLPP leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said that a package giving several concessions to the public by next April will be announced soon.

He also said that they have no intention of giving false promises to Tamils and Muslims to secure their votes.

Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the SLPP will be open for talks based on ground realities instead of unrealistic promises.

The former President said that the Presidential election next month will also be seen as a referendum ahead of the Parliamentary election next year. (Colombo Gazette)

SLPP expects polls to be held on November 16 or 23
