The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has demanded clarity from United National Front Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa on the 13-point demands made by a group of Tamil parties.
SLPP Chairman, Professor G.L Peiris said that Premadasa must tell the country if he accepts or rejects the demands.
The SLPP has refused to accept the demands saying it would lead to the division of the country and creation of a separate Tamil state.
Peiris said that there is an attempt to merge the North and East and create a separate Tamil state and remove other communities from those areas.
He said that with Premadasa talking of maximum devolution of powers the Tamil National Alliance seems to think it can push for a separate Tamil state.
Peiris warned that Premadasa will do anything to win the Presidential election. (Colombo Gazette)
