Former Parliamentarian J. Sri Ranga granted bail

Former Parliamentarian J. Sri Ranga and five others have been granted bail over a fatal accident in 2011.

The Attorney General (AG) had this week instructed the Police to arrest Sri Ranga and five others over the fatal accident in 2011 in which a policemen was killed.

The Police Special Investigations Unit had been instructed to records statements from the suspects over the incident.

The incident in Settikulam on the afternoon of 30 March 2011 left Ranga?s bodyguard ? a Police sergeant, dead.

At the time, police records said the sergeant had driven the vehicle, but it was later revealed that Ranga had been behind the wheel.

Curfew only between 10pm-4am from Tuesday including in Colombo

The curfew, currently in effect around the island will be enforced only between 10pm – 4am from Tuesday (26th) including in Colombo. Two Sri Lankans who returned from Dubai contract COVID-19

Two Sri Lankans who returned from Dubai have contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Government information department said today. Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe was quoted as saying that 21 new coronavirus patients were reported as of this evening (Saturday).
