The Ceylon Workers Congress signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna pertaining to the Presidential Election.

The Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) has signed the MoU pledging its support to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The CWC and its leader Arumugam Thondaman extended support to the Rajapaksa camp at previous elections as well.

At the MoU signing ceremony today, the CWC said that the proposals it had submitted have been included in the policy framework of the SLPP.

The CWC said it was confident the proposals will be implemented by an SLPP Government.

SLPP Chairman, Professor G.L Peiris said that the agreement between the SLPP is just a stepping stone for the future.

He said that after the Presidential election both sides will look to work together in a new Government and address the issues faced by the estate community.
