Three candidates have no plans to unite

Reports of several Presidential candidates uniting to contest the election under one banner are false, the Colombo Gazette learns.

Rumors and reports have been circulating that three of the Presidential candidates, namely: National People’s Power candidate JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake, National People’s Movement candidate Mahesh Senanayake and National Development Front candidate Dr. Rohan Pallewatte have held discussions to contest under one banner.

It was reported that if discussions proved fruitful the three would join hands and at the final moment decide who among them would contest with the support of the other two.

Accordingly, when the Colombo Gazette reached out to Dr Pallewatte, he asserted that no such discussions had been held and that he was focused only on winning the election and bringing about a positive change in Sri Lanka.

Additionally, National People’s Movement candidate Mahesh Senanayake too affirmed that reports of such a union were false.
