Sampanthan tells NPC members to withdraw no-confidence motion

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader R Sampanthan has told a group of Northern Provincial Council (NPC) members to withdraw a no-confidence motion submitted against Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran. The move comes after?Wigneswaran told Sampanthan he will not push for two NPC members to go on compulsory leave over the corruption probe on some NPC members. The issue between?Wigneswaran and the Tamil National Alliance leadership threatened to divide the TNA.

Poddala appears before CID, says not satisfied with probe

Former media activist Poddala Jayantha appeared before the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today to file a complaint over the ongoing investigations into an assault on him. The former secretary of the Sri Lanka Working Journalists’ Association (SLWJA) told reporters that he was not satisfied with the investigations into the assault in 2009.
